Racing got underway today in Kinsale for the Cork County Council IFDS World Sailing Championships in glorious sunshine after yesterday’s sailing was postponed due to light winds. Conditions were initially looking poor this morning and the competitors were held ashore. However after an hour of waiting the Race Committee lowered the postponement flag and the sailors headed out to the race course.
Racing for the inaugural Red Bull Youth America’s Cup starts in on Sunday featuring ten teams from eight nations cranking around San Francisco Bay on the AC45s for two 25 minute fleet races a day over four days.
The 86-strong fleet competing on day two of the 2013 Finn Gold Cup in Tallin, Estonia was again challenged with light, tricky winds of 7-8 knots.
23 year old kiwi campaigner Josh Junior had a much better day despite the testing conditions scoring a 2nd and an 11th in the two races sailed today. The results see him climb up to 15th overall after lying 37th at the outset of day two, and he is pleased;

2013 is a landmark year for yachting marking the 50th Anniversary of the New Zealand Sailor of the Year Award and the 2013 Volvo Yachting Excellence Awards set for Friday 29th November promises to be an exciting event.
One of New Zealand’s classic yachts, Atalanta - one of the 5 raters was on the move this month as she headed back to a former home port of hers – Wellington.
This course focuses on developing skills for coaching sailors at club, regional, and
national levels. These coaches will accompany club-level sailors to national
competitions, preparing them for racing at an international level.
