2013 is a landmark year for yachting marking the 50th Anniversary of the New Zealand Sailor of the Year Award and the 2013 Volvo Yachting Excellence Awards set for Friday 29th November promises to be an exciting event.
Four days remain until the nomination deadline of 1 September 2013.
Yachting New Zealand is delighted to welcome Volvo Cars New Zealand as naming sponsor of the event in 2013. And we are also pleased to announce the return of popular category sponsor House of Travel for Sailor of the Year.
In its inaugural year in 1963 the Sir Bernard Fergusson Trophy for New Zealand Sailor of the Year was presented to Harry Highet a New Zealand Civil Engineer famous for designing the P-Class yacht which so many of New Zealand’s world class sailors including Sir Russell Coutts and Sir Peter Blake learnt to sail in.
50 years on and Yachting New Zealand is now calling for nominations for the 2013 Volvo Yachting Excellence Awards across all categories and the overall winner for House of Travel Sailor of the Year will be awarded the Sir Bernard Fergusson Trophy on this landmark anniversary occasion. You can find the official nomination form and guidelines around eligibility on our Awards webpage.
The Volvo Yachting Excellence Awards are a great opportunity to recognise not only the best performers in our sport, but also the tireless, hardworking volunteers who make it all possible and the organisations that contribute.
