At the Commodores Conference Northern Region RSO – Hamish Hey ran a workshop on liquor licensing and good practice to try and advise clubs on improving practice and reduce liability on volunteers.
A few weeks ago one of Auckland’s Clubs was the subject of an undercover sting operation by Police and the District Licensing Authority (DLA), and unfortunately the club’s practices were found wanting, resulting in a fine being issued to the club.
The NZL Sailing Team’s big guns went racing today in Rio at the Olympic Sailing Test Event (Aquece Rio – International Sailing Regatta 2014) with some solid results.
Saturday brought the 2014 Laser Radial World Championships to a close in Dziwnow, Poland.
On the final day sailors were treated to the strongest winds peaking around 18 knots and the large rolling waves from training. The week had a mixture of all conditions, from light fading winds to freshening finals racing and some medium hiking conditions for qualification -mostly under sunny warm conditions.
There are now less than three months to go until New Zealand’s biggest yacht race takes place again, on 24th October 2014. With the Notice of Race just released, and entries now open online, it’s time to start planning for this spectacular event.
It was hot and calm in Rio, Brazil today, and no racing was possible at the Olympic Sailing Test Event (Aquece Rio – International Sailing Regatta 2014).
A light wind day finished off the final series of the 29er World Championship on Lake Ontario for the 29er Worlds. After an hour postponement, the breeze filled in at noon to the class minimum of 4 knots.
Racing is underway for the NZL Sailing Team in Rio, Brazil in the RS:X and Finn classes at Aquece Rio – International Sailing Regatta 2014 – the Olympic Sailing ‘Test Event’.
