The SOF Hyeres ISAF Sailing World Cup event wrapped up last Sunday after a fairly physical week of testing conditions on the Southern coast of France. It was a really positive week for myself with some solid improvements made, from a couple weeks ago in Spain.
Race Officials make a huge contribution to Yacht Clubs around New Zealand. Whether it’s helping out with local club racing or running an International regatta, neither would be possible without dedicated Race Officials.
The NZL Sailing Team has ended ISAF Sailing World Cup Hyeres with a four medal haul including two golds and two silvers with a further two sailors finishing just outside the medals in fourth.
Overall victories came from New Zealand’s London Olympic medallists, Peter Burling and Blair Tuke (49er), and Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie (Women’s 470) who have both secured back to back gold medals at ISAF Sailing World Cup Palma in early April, and now Hyeres.

PHRF and IRC certificates will expire on 31 May and boat owners are encouraged to prepare for revalidating for the new season, especially if you are planning to race in June.
We have now finished the second regatta of our trip. Hyeres turned on the weather, giving us sun, good winds, waves, and great racing. We were very happy to come away after 18 races in second place overall.
