The Royal Akarana Yacht Club race from Auckland to Denarau, known as ANZ Sail Fiji, is definitely going ahead as the race will bring tourism to the area which will assist greatly in their recovery process, after parts of the island nation were devastated by Cyclone Winston.

Eight North Island 420 teams tested their skills at Oceanbridge Sail Auckland, MBSC last weekend, the final regatta available before 2016 New Zealand 420 National Championships. The Oceanbridge Sail Auckland regatta offered a three day wind range suite of 4 - 22k and a no wind day four. This gave all teams the opportunity to test their set up, boat handling and tactical skills in every mode, using available tricky shifty sea breezes and excellent race committee management course setting.

The two NZL Sailing Team crews put in an excellent medal race performance today to secure podium finishes in both the men’s and women’s championships.

It’s all on for the NZL Sailing Team for the final day of the 2016 470 World Championships with New Zealand vying for medals in both the men’s and women’s divisions after a solid penultimate day.

Paul Snow-Hansen and Daniel Willcox have relinquished their overall lead but go into the final day lying 2nd overall, while Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie have continued their climb through the standings to hold 3rd place with one day left.
