The Young 88 Owners Association continues to innovate to keep the sailing fun and numbers healthy. This year the association has joined with fleet and event sponsor Harken to provide the “Win Wicked Winches” spot prize; a pair of Harken Performa winches valued at more than $2500.
The 60th Zephyr National Championship will be held from the 20th to the 24th April at the Manly Sailing Club, Hibiscus Coast and, with over 80 entries received to date, will be one of New Zealand’s largest national sailing championships.

At the suggestion of sailors and their families, Sailability Wellington held its first of many Annual Regattas from Lowry bay Yacht Club on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd of April. All racing was in Hansa 303 yachts.
Mark Orams (Torbay) has won the 2016 Swire Shipping Paper Tiger International Championships which were hosted by Royal Akarana Yacht Club in Auckland over the Easter long weekend.
The Kristin School team of Henry Haslett, Oscar Gunn, Leonard Takahashi, and Lachlan Grimwade have won the 2016 Harken School Regatta in dramatic fashion!
The Coast New Zealand International Etchell Class Championships finished racing on Sunday 3 April, with six races being completed by the fleet of twelve one design Etchell 22s racing windward leeward courses near the Bean Rock area.
The 2016 Jollyboat Nationals were sailed in the Bay of Islands alongside the 3.7 Nationals. The friendly hospitality of BOIYC went down well with both classes and the visiting youth sailors attending the inter schools champs over the weekend. Sumptuous food, including some beautifully smoked king fish, provided the foundation for a healthy and family friendly apres sail environment
