ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami is underway and New Zealand holds the early lead in the Women’s 470, 49erFX and the Nacra 17, as well as 2nd place in the Laser class.
Our International Navigator Mike Quilter has forecasted “An easterly 17-20 gusting to 23, easing in the later afternoon and evening down to 15 or 16 knots easterly”. This has made a lot of sailors happy; Mother Nature has come up with the breeze they want - to ‘fly’ on the last day of racing.
Another beautiful day in the Bay of Islands, with the weatherman on our side for racing yachts. Mike Quilter, International Navigator gave the forecast to any and all boaties at the beginning of the day: “a ridge of high pressure establishes itself over the North Island today and tomorrow giving us SE going E breezes over the bay.”
From 26-31 January 2015, Miami, USA will welcome world class fields in ten Olympic and three Paralympic events for the second regatta of the 2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup series.
New Zealand’s only ISAF 100 Point Olympic, Paralympic and invited class regatta is pleased to again offer a travel subsidy to help kiwi sailors from outside the Auckland Region take part in this world class event.
We’re running a Volvo National Sailing and Boating Day Photo Competition: $1000 will go to the Club that submits the best photo taken of the action on the day.
