Clubs should nominate a person(s) to keep up to date with matters that may pose a risk to local club activities. This could be in and on the water or the land where the club runs from.
Funding is essential to the survival and growth of clubs. It provides additional funds over other income such as memberships and is often the main source of income for many clubs.

In November 2022 Consumer Magazine in conjunction with Maritime New Zealand, New Zealand Search and Rescue and Safer Boating released a Life Jacket and PFD Buying Guide.
Clubs should be aware there are special conditions for running charity regattas. Strictly speaking these boats are deemed to be "for hire or reward" and should be operated under the Maritime Operator Safety System' (MOSS) scheme.
