Yachting New Zealand wishes to thank Clubs for the great response to new deadlines around membership fees introduced this year, and we want to let you know about the launch of a new investigation into potential membership models.
Changes made to the Yachting New Zealand constitution in 2012 affected Clubs requiring that affiliation fees be paid earlier in the year than previously done. Chief Executive David Abercrombie explains that this went well, “We realise that the transition year had the potential to make your Club administration difficult, and we really appreciate the fantastic response and buy-in we had from you to meet the new deadlines. Thank you to all our Clubs!”
At the Yachting New Zealand Annual General Meeting, held on Saturday 19th October held at Bucklands Beach Yacht Club in Auckland, a membership modelling exercise was discussed. Members showed their support and this project is set to get underway.
“We hope to present findings and feedback to Clubs at the Commodores Conference in June 2014,” continues David. “In order to do this we need your help as we undertake the membership modelling project.”
Kelly Fong will manage the membership modelling exercise and she will be getting in touch with a number of Clubs seeking Club membership information which will allow us to form an accurate picture of the current membership and formulate potential options to present to Clubs.
The 2014-015 affiliation fee (per Notional Senior Member) will be $40.36 plus CPI as at the March 2014 quarter CPI (plus GST) unless members show support for a change as a result of the membership modelling project, in which case a Special General Meeting would be held.
In order for you to plan ahead and make adjustments to your Club administration if required, here are some important dates to note in the Club Calendar…
- Club Financial Accounts to be provided to Yachting New Zealand by 30 June 2014 where possible
- Yachting New Zealand affiliation fees are due to Yachting New Zealand by 30 September 2014
