Women’s Match Race Worlds to feature two New Zealand entries

Two New Zealand teams are off to Busan, Korea for the ISAF Women’s Match Racing World Championships on from 4-9 June.

Twelve teams will compete for the title including kiwi entries skippered by Claudia Pierce (Infinity Racing) and by Susannah Pyatt.

Infinity Racing is a new team of young female sailors formed to pursue success on the Women’s International Match Racing circuit and other sailing competitions. The team consists of Skipper Claudia Pierce, Janelle Peat, Marie Kent, Paige Cook, Hannah Osborne and Aimee Famularo.

Pierce and her crew are all members of the Lion Foundation Youth Training Programme at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.

The second team, which secured a late entry to the World Champs will have Susannah Pyatt at the helm and crew including Karleen Dixon (Main), Jenny Egnot (Trim,) Raynor Haagh (Bow) and Jenna Hansen (Trim). Carla Holgate is coach.

This team has a vast range of experience in dinghies and keel boats. Over the last 15 years, all members of the team have campaigned and competed in the Olympics or World Championships in sailing and among them are key members of both the New Zealand Women's 2013 Match Racing and Fleet Racing Championship winning teams.
