Titahi Bay Boating Club did a great job of hosting the recent Wellington Optisail.
Nearly all the dinghy clubs in Wellington had sailors at the Optisail three-day camp this year, the largest contingent coming from Plimmerton Boating Club with 14 sailors.
Our destination sail took us a little short of our targeted Shelly Bay but with a strong head wind and tide against us we beached in the Mana channel and used the park for some time off the boats.
The kids had some interesting rides down the ramp and into the water on beach trailers they had strapped together.
The night sail even had its own fireworks show from one of the local boatshed owners which added to the entertainment.
Again a big thanks to all those who helped out with feeding out as some helpers came from other clubs as well as Titahi Bay. Also thanks to the coaches who helped out over the three days.
