Yacht clubs are often in prime positions on the sea front but it also means they are vulnerable when it comes to global warming, sea level rise or a weather event combined with a low pressure and a king tide.
As these pictures show, taken of Christchurch clubs during recent weather events, it would not take much more for it to become a significant problem.
Perhaps a review of your facilities, club plans and security would be a smart thing to do if your club is in a “idyllic location”, especially as it is winter we are not at our club as often and these sort of events can creep up on us.
