The Waikato/Thames region are looking to send teams to the regional and national 420 team's championships following a successful training clinic at Lake Ngaroto over Waitangi weekend.
Nineteen children aged 12-14 took part in the clinic, which centred around team's racing. Crews were constantly mixed up so each child got a variety of experiences.
The programme will continue to evolve and plans are in place to send two teams to the regional championships at Taupo in March and then a combined team to contest the nationals in Sandspit in April.
Youngsters from the Waikato/Thames region don't tend to travel to events in the numbers of other regions so this clinic was seen as a good opportunity to hone their skills and have some fun.
