The final count-down is on to the first ever Volvo National Sailing & Boating Day. Sailing and boating Clubs across New Zealand, from Northland to Bluff, are gearing up for Sunday’s celebration of sailing and boating.
With a high pressure system approaching New Zealand the long-range forecast for the weekend bodes well for light winds and generally warm, sunny conditions across the country for Volvo National Sailing & Boating Day.
Over 45 Yachting New Zealand affiliated Clubs are on board with the nationwide initiative which is designed to entice newcomers through the door of the Clubhouse and out onto the water.
Yachting New Zealand Chief Executive, David Abercrombie says, “Sailing is a sport for all ages. Sailing and boating are about freedom and adventure, it can be competitive or just for fun and I’d encourage anyone who is keen to get down to your local Club this Sunday and give it a go.”
With a wide range of activities planned from sailing, windsurfing and spectator opportunities to all welcome BBQs, members of the public are encouraged to check www.yachtingnz.org.nz/16Feb to find out what’s happening at their local Club.
Volvo globally supports sailing from grass roots level, through youth development and to the pinnacle of the sport with the ownership of the Volvo Ocean Race. For Volvo New Zealand, this Yachting New Zealand initiative is another to help grow sailing communities which are already reached by programmes such as YNZ’s Volvo Sailing...Have a Go!

Mark the date - Sunday 16 February - in your diary and book a photographer or talk to the Club about supplying you photos from the day.
