John Kliffen, Commodore at Worser Bay Boating Club describes their Volvo National Sailing & Boating Day…
We ran our “Give Sailing a Go” open day at Worser Bay Boat Club from 11am to 4pm and luckily we had fantastic weather for the day.
We ran an adult Learn-to-Sail course from 10am to 2pm and after that the six club Sunbursts were also put to good use by club members and other sailors taking out friends and kids wanting to give it a go and enjoy a sailing experience on such a beautiful day.
We also had a number of our club members’ Sunbursts rigged up to take out any interested public, as well as optimists and starlings to show some of the range of centre board yachts we sail at WBBC.
All in all, 12 adult learn-to-sail trainees and another 12 of the general public (both adults and kids) came along to give sailing a go for the first time, and we had quite a few more club members just out on the water to enjoy the great day.
