Two new initiatives are features of this year's Yachting New Zealand Commodores Conference at the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club in Auckland on Saturday, June 9.
Firstly, clubs are encouraged to send along a club manager, if they employ one, and there will be an opportunity for this group to meet and discuss issues relating to their roles in managing bigger clubs.
The second new initiative is an invitation to clubs to send along a young person already in a governance position. We recognise the importance of supporting young leaders and for succession planning to ensure clubs have a youth perspective. Limited travel subsidies are available to help get youngsters to the conference and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Travel subsidies are also available for each club's commodore (or one representative) and details of this, and the draft agenda, were sent out to clubs today.
The biennial Yachting New Zealand Commodores Conference is a great opportunity to meet with other leaders of our sport, to plan, network and help improve the quality of experience your club provides.
