With just one week to go, there is still time to get yourself organized to be part of a great Easter Weekend on the water. TYPBC has decided to waive the late entry to entice those still sitting on the fence to jump off and come sailing! Looking forward to seeing some more of the Auckland based boats have a crack at showing the Tauranga crews how it’s done!
Recent additions to the entry list include the TP 52 V5 which will be taking a run at line honours, along with several very talented shorthanded entries including Peter Decke on Lynx, Adrian McHardy on Open Country, and Will Horne with his new boat Berenice. Look for some close competition from this group!
PredictWind Tracking and Sailonline.org virtual race.
New for the race this year will be the use of the PredictWind tracking system which means each boat will be able to be tracked by using a smart phone on board. Family and friends will be able to watch the race from home and follow the progress. It is as simple as downloading the PredictWind tracking app and signing on for the race. Complete instructions will on a laminated sheet in every boats race bag.
Also new this year will be a virtual race compliments of sailonline.org. Anyone not racing will be able to log in and sail the race virtually and test their skills against those actually out on the water. Race Chairman Ray Findlay says “We are keen to embrace the technology out there to make the race and its progress available to anyone who is interested. We are hoping it will bring a whole new dimension to the race and enhance the enjoyment for those who are unlucky enough not to be able to sailing in the race.”
Look for full details about getting started and links for both these exciting offerings on the TYPBC website at www.yacht.org.nz.
Planning is all go for plenty of fun and laughs at TYPBC after the race. Racers, family and friends are all invited to join in!
