Takapuna Boating Club is going to run some training sessions for people wanting to know more about mark laying, working on a signal boat, working on a pin end boat and working on a finish boat. They will be using these sessions to up skill their volunteers for the upcoming A- Class Pre Worlds and February(5th -8th) and Worlds ( 9th -16th).
The club is opening up these sessions to all who are interested in getting more skills to be able to help out at their local club or bigger regattas. They will be covering ;
- using GPS’s,
- taking wind reading
- mark laying,
- changes of course,
- tide readings,
- working with race officers,
- rescues
- and heaps of other stuff
The club sees that it would be fun to have more people involved with these sessions and that there is no commitment to be involved with the World A Class Championships.( but I am sure they could use you if you are keen)
The club will be running these sessions on the 8th and 22nd September Sundays at 11am (There will be both on and off the water training and if the weather is foul it will be all on shore)
There will also be more dates as they get closer to the event and are aiming at a couple of days a month.
There is no charge to attend.
