The Sunburst at 50 Years Old – Radio New Zealand Spectrum Documentary

At the recent 2014 Sunburst Nationals held in January at the Wakatere Boating Club in Devonport, the class concurrently held a weekend celebrating the 50 years since the first boat was launched.

Radio New Zealand National sent Lisa Thompson along to record a documentary in their “Spectrum” series about the 50^th anniversary regatta and celebrations. She explores the history of the Sunburst, which is still providing hours of sailing enjoyment for young and old alike, and is raced in many yacht clubs across the whole country..

This airs on Radio New Zealand National, 101.4 FM, on Sunday 9^th February at 12.15 pm, repeated at 12.30 am on Tuesday 11^th Feb and 7.30 pm on Wednesday 12^th Feb.
