HISTORY
We warmly invite your young sailors to participate in this year’s RNZYS NESPRESSO National Youth Training Weeks at Kawau Island. This presents a unique opportunity for young sailors to take advantage of the Squadron’s world-renowned youth training programme which has been training champion sailors for twenty-nine years. Established in 1989 the National Youth Training Week gives young sailors the opportunity to receive intensive theoretical and practical instruction in the various aspects of competitive keelboat racing in a disciplined environment.
YACHTS
The fleet of 10 Elliott 7m training boats owned by the RNZYS Youth Training Programme are used. These purpose-built training keelboats utilise both spinnakers and gennakers; poles and prods, providing extra challenges and a wider skill base for all trainees.
