The Stewart 34 Association would like to invite young sailors, parents and guardians to experience the pleasures of sailing a Stewart 34.
The Stewart 34s are an iconic bit of Auckland’s boating history with the first boat being launched in the late 1950s; the class is still the strongest keelboat class in New Zealand and gets fleets of over 20 in the Monday night sprint series. It is also a fun, fast, affordable, roomy, family coastal cruiser.
The association invite you along to try some fun races on the 23rd August 2014, where owners and crew will show you the basics of racing a Stewart and the features of this wonderful boat.
The Stewarts are powerful boats and have no lifelines so we have to restricted the age limit to 15 years +.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see if this could be the boat for you and the family.
The plan is to meet at 11am at Westhaven. There will be at least six boats available and they will all have a skipper and two experienced crews to talk you through the best way to sail these boats. After a briefing it will be out on to the harbour to some fun races and back to the marina about 3pm.
