Auckland turned out in force for the departure of the Volvo Ocean Race fleet last weekend and the racing matched the spectacular gathering.

The fleet are now diving south as fast as they can to get onto the strong westerlies that will take them across the Southern Ocean.
Sunday's departure wrapped up a terrific three-week stopover that saw about 500,000 attend the race village.
