Service Awards Feature: Bill Miller

Bill Miller’s involvement with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron dates back 46 years to 1969 when he joined the Squadron after buying the Stewart 34 PAVO.

During his time as a Squadron member Bill has served ten years on the Sailing Committee, 11 years as Match Race Commodore and ten years on the Protest Committee. As a member of RNZYS, I have served 10 years on the Sailing Committee, 11 years as Match Race Commodore and 10 years on the Protest Committee. In 1989, in the Citizen Final, I was the on- water judge when Chris Dickson beat Rod Davis 2-1.

Bill has also been part of the Stewart 34 Association for 44 years, serving two terms as Chairman, two terms as Secretary and two as Treasurer.

He has also run a very successful Ponsonby Cruising Club/ Stewart 34 group for well over 25 years on Thursday afternoons.
