The New Zealand Sailing Trust is looking to enter Steinlager 2 into the ANZ Sail Fiji Ocean Race (http://sailfiji.co.nz). We are now seeking expressions of interest for potential crew members to race with us on, and deliver back, this amazing yacht. The Trust is working closely with the Royal Akarana Yacht Club and has gained dispensation to take five young sailors (aged 16yrs+) on the race.
The race starts in Auckland and finishes inside the Navula Passage at the entrance of Momi Bay in Fiji. The 1136 nautical mile race starts on the 7th June 2014 the race will finish up approximately 7 days later. The Trust has very experienced professional crew that will sail alongside the guest crew providing all the safety briefings and sailing experience for the race. The Trust crew, some of who have raced this race for a number of years, will cover all watches with the guest crew. Guest crew on board will take parts in all aspects of sailing and life on board the yacht, including night shifts and sharing cooking and cleaning duties.
There is space for 16 guest crew to join us in the Race, participants will require some sailing experience and a reasonable level of fitness to participate. Five of these 16 places are reserved for young sailors 16years +, these sailors need to have had significant sailing experience.
