Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club and Yachting New Zealand life member Pat Millar passed away last weekend. He was 97.
Millar joined the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club in 1947 and held many positions over the years, including racing secretary and protest convenor and he was a national judge.
He was also an outstanding sailor, winning the Sanders Cup for Wellington in 1960 and defending it twice.
In 1996, Millar was honoured by Yachting New Zealand for his contribution to yachting over many years, and in 2002 he was made a life member of the club.
His funeral will be at the Eastbourne Sports and Services Club at 11am on Friday, and the club's burgee will be flown at half mast on Friday out of respect for Millar.
