The 47th Black Heart Hartley 16 Nationals to be held in New Plymouth next week are ready to go with 23 boats entered coming from Whangarei, Auckland, Napier and New Plymouth.
Measuring will take place next Wednesday and racing commences Thursday through to Saturday with three races per day. The entry list boasts many past winners including current national champions Gareth and Mike Insley in Pronto from Manukau and eight time winner Thijs Calkoen from Napier.
“It’s also great to have ocean race legend Ross Field teaming up with his New Plymouth based brother Colin at the event, and should be a threat,” says Wayne Holdt, Regional Support Officer.
“The biggest highlight are the young sailors now getting involved in the Hartley 16 class with the ability to buy a nationally competitive boat at a very reasonable price, but there will be plenty of old hands out there keeping them honest.”
