Yachting New Zealand supports two certificates, Race Committee Assistant and Race Committee Mark layer, to give recognition to the backbone of every race committee.
These log books allow for on-the-job guidance given by those more experienced, in particular the race officer and encourage members of the race committee to undertake the full range of duties over a period of time. They enable volunteers to record their contribution to the sport, track their learning and be recognised for their services to the sport.
Congratulations to Katie Hakes who is the first to complete the race committee assistant log book and be awarded a certificate.
Katie, having undertaken numerous regattas in Wellington, competed the book by being a member of the race management team at the World Masters Games.
