The 2013 Hutchwilco Boat Show will provide an exciting promotional opportunity and Class Associations and Yacht Clubs are encouraged to come and be part of the ‘Sailing Central’ pavilion.
What: Sailing Central, 2013 Hutchwilco Boat Show
When: May 16th – 19th 2013
Where: ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland
“Sailing Central, being held as part of the Hutchwilco Boat Show is free for non-profit class associations and yacht clubs,” explains Miranda Powrie, Marketing Coordinator for Sailing Central. “The idea is to promote sailing to the wider community.”
“We are looking for class associations to come and display a boat in Hall six and talk to people who might be interested in getting into sailing about their boat. We are also looking for representatives from yacht clubs to come and talk to people about how to get into sailing and what their yacht club is all about.”
Powrie continues; “The goal is to encourage participation in sailing and make sailing more accessible to your average New Zealander to help dispel myths about sailing being an elitist sport and to grow the profile of the sport. As well as get all the class associations and yacht clubs together for a catch up, last year there was an awesome vibe in the hall!”
Following a great response to having a presence in 2012 Yachting New Zealand will be taking part once again with a pivotal stand within the heart of Sailing Central.
“The Hutchwilco Boat Show attracts a large and varied audience, many who might know boating, but haven’t tried sailing,” says Andrew Clouston, YNZ Participation and Development Manager.
“For the yachting community it’s a great chance to show this audience how to get started in sailing, what boats are out there for them to try, and where their local yacht club is,” he continues. “It’s all about encouraging more people to give sailing a go.”
