The Clyde Quay Boat Harbour Project has taken a further step forward with inclusion in the 2012-2022 Wellington City Council Long Term Plan.
Initial construction to improve public access to the harbour will begin in the next 12 months. A business case for the upgrade and future management of the marina will be completed by December. At the same time a scoping project into the costs for the feasibility phase of public space and amenity works will be completed for consideration in the 2013-2014 annual plan.
"We are delighted with this outcome as it keeps the project moving forward in what are very difficult times for the city" said RPNYC CEO Dean Stanley
"Councillors and Council Officers were faced with a trifecta of issues with earthquake remediation concerns, leaky home liabilities and the effect of the recession so it was very difficult for any projects to make it across the line in this planning cycle."
"We are very grateful for the support of our members, stakeholders and partners who sent in submissions to the council in support of the project and we now look forward to continuing to work with council officers to bring the project to fruition."
