The 2014 Oki 24 hour race and 6 hour Optimist Race are only 3 weeks away on the 8th and 9th of February.
There’s some fantastic talent confirmed with some of the world’s top Laser sailors in town and going head to head including 3 of the NZL Laser Sailing Team: Andy Maloney, Sam Meech and Tom Saunders. They – and any dark horses will be battling for a $2,000 cash prize. If last year’s race is anything to go by the fight to the finish should be a cliffhanger.
For those seeking an even greater challenge don’t forget the gruelling solo division ($1,000 for 1st prize). The question is can these masochists win the regatta outright? – all you have to do is keep it going for 24 hours. Other divisions include Masters, Youth and Sub youth (3 sailors). Each team needs to supply a Standard Laser except sail.
So if you haven’t already, get your entries in to Jane Cowie ASAP – see the NOR on the website for more info. The 6 hour race entries are on the day but please let your fleet co ordinator know so we have an idea of numbers.
