The NZ 420 Association are very pleased to be holding the 2016 420 Oceania Championship, with a training clinic beforehand, in New Zealand at Auckland’s Wakatere Boating Club over 5/6 June. The clinic and regatta is on the edge of the waters to be used later in the year for World Sailing’s 2016 Youth World Championship, which is being hosted by Yachting New Zealand.
Invitations for June’s Oceania Championship regatta have been sent to Australia, USA, China, Singapore, Japan, Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
Argentinian sailors Camila Barletta and Micaela Del Pero of Yacht Club Argintino (placed 2nd at 2015 Argentina Nationals) have already confirmed their attendance and are arriving in New Zealand 1st June to train and race in the regatta and it is hoped others will follow. The Argentinian pair is taking the opportunity to train on 2016 Youth Worlds water in preparation for the December Youth Worlds.
The regatta is an opportunity for Worlds Teams as a pre-Worlds regatta, or for developing teams, to visit NZ.
For those countries keen to experience where the 2016 Youth Worlds will be held, the training and Oceania regatta will be in a similar area.
