Ngaroto’s Winter Series for Trailer Yachts – Visitors Welcome!

Issue date

At the end of Bank Road just out of Te Awamutu you will find a small rural sailing club situated on the shores of Lake Ngaroto. This is the home of the Ngaroto sailing Club… a small club, but when it comes to hosting regattas and hospitality, it punches well above its weight.

July the 9th and 10th sees the return of the John Dixon Memorial Winter series for trailer yachts in a slightly different format. Rather than a six -race series over three alternate Sundays the new program will see a weekend regatta with five races and four raced to count. The skippers will be invited to partake in the skipper’s only single handed rum race.

There is plenty of space for parking the boats up and the club has shower facilities for our guests.

Club Commodore Gordon, who just loves to cook, has been preparing the menu starting Friday night for the early arrivals and concluding with Sunday lunch. It’s worth going just for the food!

Gordon says, “The duck shooters have finished so it is safe to venture back out onto the lake. We would really love to see as many visiting boats as possible on the lake over this weekend regatta and you can be well assured you will be fed, watered and well taken care of.”

“So come savour the Ngaroto hospitality. We really look forward to your support and seeing you there!”
