As many as 26 of the more experienced young sailors from Wellington, New Plymouth and Picton attended a new spring Optimist coaching clinic held at the Worser Bay Boating Club over Labour weekend.
Four top Wellington coaches oversaw the programme over the three days which included not only on-water activities but also fun elements off the water.
The timing of the clinic provided a good kick-start to the season for the sailors with plenty of upcoming regattas ahead of them.
Thanks must go to the Opti Worlds Trust for their support, the Worser Bay club and their members (especially Glenn and Belinda Stanley) and coaches Emma, Ben, Lola and Penny who made this clinic happen. The children had a ball at the live-in camp, and this clinic will now be permanently locked into the calendar.
