Jason Holdt and Todd Birrell dominated the Hartley 16 North Island championships sailed at the Ngaroto Sailing Club last weekend.
Only three races were possible over the two days for the fleet of 15 boaqts due to the blustery conditions and the pair from the New Plymouth Yacht Club won all three races sailing Simply Red. They finished ahead of Alan Holdt and Andy Clennett (also NPYC) in Tight Fit with third going to Manukau/Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club combination Gareth Insley and Paul Davies in Bizarre.
As usual with the Hartley fleet, the after-match function was well attended with the usual banter and comraderie that is at the heart of the class.
Thanks to the Ngaroto team for their running of the regatta. Also thanks to the class Travellers series sponsor North Sails.
The next regatta is the national championships in Napier on January 10-13, 2018.
