At the recent YNZ Annual General Meeting in Christchurch, members voted on a special resolution to change the method of calculating the affiliation levy along with changes to the Constitution to support the change.
The vote went in favour of replacing the current NSM model with a flat fee per individual club member. This change will come into effect in July 2015 and Yachting New Zealand will provide more details over the coming weeks and work together with Clubs to provide for a smooth transition.
“Regional Support Officers will be able to assist clubs through the transition process,” says Andrew Clouston, Participation and Development Manager.
Yachting New Zealand is also working on a membership card.
David Abercrombie says; “We know that it has to provide tangible and enticing benefits to individuals and Clubs and I am delighted with some of the offerings either confirmed or in the pipeline and I believe that sailors and boaties around the country will find real value in the card.”
“We hope to roll this out using a staged approach including some trial clubs in early 2015.”
