Maersk Line staff members enjoying Friday drinks and nibbles were treated to a visit from Olympic Gold Medallists Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie along with fellow NZL Sailing Team campaigners Jason Saunders and Andy Maloney.
In a casual setting the packed staff room of Maersk Line’s head office in the Britomart Transport Centre, heard from medallists Jo and Polly about how they came to sail together, their road to Weymouth and that final race that secured them the gold medal from the home-town British crew.
The gold medal girls also answered questions from their captive audience while Maersk Line staff passed the medals around for an up-close look.
Two of the NZL Sailing Team sailors to achieve podium place finishes in the 2012 ISAF Sailing World Cup, Jason Saunders and Andy Maloney were also on-site in order to receive their ISAF trophies.
Following the presentations the NZL Sailing Team sailors along with Jez Fanstone, Olympic Programme Manager, took the time to mix and mingle, Maersk Line staff enjoying the opportunity to hear more about the life of an Olympic campaigner.
