This brand new flat deck road trailer has been kindly built by the boys at Hosking Trailers in Albany. It is fitted with LED lights, a Trojan jockey wheel, mud guards and coupling. The trailer is purpose built for sailors, and can accommodate any sailing dinghy from the size of an Optimist through to a laser or bigger depending on the beach trailer set up.
All other componentry has been supplied by local business:
H3.1 15mm Ply wood has been supplied by Bunnings Warehouse in Glenfield.
Plywood has been laid (By one of the sailors himself! Jono Spurdle) using wingtek self drilling stainless steel screws From ANZOR Fasteners in Albany.
This is the first time that young, talented sailors have had a clear pathway towards competing for one of the most prestigious trophies in sport. The Red Bull Youth Americas Cup opens the door for young sailors to gain the experience they need to contribute to a cup team, and you the NZL Sailing Team needs your support to help them win the inaugural event for New Zealand.
Burling and his London 2012 Olympic silver medallist teammate Blair Tuke will lead the team of under 25’s including: Andy Maloney, Jono Spurdle, Guy Endean, Sam Meech and Jason Saunders. Together they will race under the burgee of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, a club with an enormous reputation on the international yachting scene.
