A line of Yamaha inflatable lifejackets have been recalled because the canister might have been removed which means it will not inflate when the toggle is pulled.
Maritime New Zealand have forwarded the information after receiving notification from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).
Boaties and organisations are advised to check their lifejackets and advise their members to do the same. It applies to lifejackets sold from January to June 2018.
If your Yamaha lifejacket is found to have the canister missing, return it to the place of purchase for a replacement product.
Boaties should always complete a pre-wear check before using any lifejacket, including checking and confirming the canister is attached where appropriate.
