It might be a long way from the Great Sound in Bermuda but the Lake Mahinapua Aquatic Club has seen a resurgence in sailing following this year's America's Cup and Emirates Team New Zealand's tour of the country.

Lake Mahinapua is one of the smaller clubs in the country, situated on the West Coast of the South Island about 10km south of Hokitika near the small town of Ruatapu.
The lake has been a favourite location for the Volvo Sailing... Have A Go! team because of its lovely, sheltered waters and shallow depth which means the water is warm.
The club has seen a resurgence in interest in sailing following the Emirates Team New Zealand's visit in October as well as the success of the Volvo Sailing... Have A Go! programme.
