The Kohimarama Yacht Club have organised a 420 regatta at the end of the May as a way to help promote the class and bring new sailors up to speed.
The regatta, which will be sailed off Kohimarama on May 26-27, will feature things like coaching of the back third of the fleet during races as well as a Mark Foy handicap start for the final race, when each crew will be given a start time based on their handicap.
Entries are open and the event is a great way to bring the 420 community together.
"It's great to see new faces coming into the youth classes, especially as many girl's teams as we are seeing at Kohi," Yachting New Zealand youth head coach Matt Thomas said. "One of the great things about the double-handed boats at youth level is the ability for female teams to compete on an even platform against the boys."
The regatta comes on the back of a 420 class association clinic held at the Takapuna Boating Club when sailors and coaches from around Oceania attended.
