Kiwis on the podium at ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne

Racing for ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne 2014 wrapped up over the weekend on Port Philip Bay with three podium finishes for New Zealand sailors across the Paralympic and Olympic classes.

Mike Bullot took bronze in the Laser class which attracted a 39 boat fleet. New Zealand’s 2012 Paralympic representative in the 2.4m  sailed away with a silver at 2014 ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne, while kiwi SKUD18 combination Tim Dempsey (also a 2012 Paralympian) and Gemma Fletcher took silver in the double-handed class.

Other kiwi sailors to record a top five finish at the opening ISAF Sailing World Cup Series regatta were Sam Meech (4th in the Laser), Marcus Hansen and Josh Porebski (5th in the 49er), Erica Dawson and Ellie Copeland (5th in the 49erFX), Brett Willcock (5th in the 2.4m) and Paul Wager and Rachel Shardlow (5th in the SKUD18).
