The seven-strong New Zealand team won five medals at the recent raceboard world championships in Moreton Bay off Brisbane, including two world titles.

Bruce Trotter (Russell Boating Club) won the grand master world title and was fourth overall and Wakatere’s Tim Wood was crowned world champion in the veteran’s class.
Antonio Cozalino (Takapuna Sailing Club) was third in the lightweight division and third overall and Gary Hill (Wakatere) was second in the 7.8 fleet – his initial goal was to complete the regatta.
Trotter pushed a number of his younger competitors, including Cozalino and Spanish Olympian Ivan Pastor, hard across the five days (15 races in total).
Raceboarding is a form of windsurfing that uses longer boards and sails up to 9.5sqm.
As many as 85 competitors from 11 countries competed in the raceboard world championships hosted by the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.
