Kereyn Smith Elected CGF Vice President

New Zealand Olympic Committee CEO Kereyn Smith has been elected to the position of Vice President to the Commonwealth Games Federation Board.

Taking place at the pivotal Auckland 2015 General Assembly, Smith's election further secures the transformation of the Commonwealth Games Movement. 

Smith, in addressing the 230 delegates from 71 Commonwealth Nations said she was committed to integrity, impact and ambition. 

"The transformation 2022 strategy and a refreshed Commonwealth Games Movement is a focus for me," she said. "I understand the importance of a strong connection between sport, events, athletes and community and the power of the Commonwealth Games to do this.

"I have a track record in organisational growth and development and will bring leadership and advocacy skills to support change within the movement."

New Zealand Olympic Committee President Mike Stanley said he is delighted with Smith's appointment. 

"Kereyn has successfully driven a new approach to ethics and integrity at the New Zealand Olympic Committee and has been recognized for her contribution to governance in sport, youth and education," he said. She is also a member of the International Olympic Committee Sport and Activity Commission, championing sport participation for all. I know she will make a positive impact within the Commonwealth Games Movement at this critical and transformative time.
