We're expecting to see a large number of vessels heading out to enjoy our beautiful Hauraki Gulf over the next few days, especially with today's easing of Alert Level 3 restrictions for Aucklanders.
Some sailing and boating is now allowed in the Auckland region (see here for the latest guidelines) seven weeks into the latest lockdown.
While the waters have been clear of boaties over that time, it's likely some of our coastlines have accumulated rubbish with no one to collect it.
We’d love to see your photos of our beautiful gulf but also send us what you collect while you’re out there.
Richard Blakey sent in three photos this week, which are stunning. Thanks, Richard.
And we also like the caption for the one taken by Viivi at Subzero Images a while back.
So it was a rubbish day today at the northern end of Rangitoto...few pegs of course, lots of plastic caps, good size needle for all your vaccination needs, mouth guard, plastic foliage, nerf bullet and some poor bugger’s soft baits...
We'd love to hear from anyone, not just those in the Hauraki Gulf, so either send in your pics to environment@yachtingnz.org.nz or tag Yachting New Zealand on Facebook or Instagram.
