Jez Fanstone and Aaron McIntosh have been awarded Olympic Coach, Yachting New Zealand's highest coaching qualification.
Jez and Aaron have been recognized for coaching input to their sailor’s highly successful London 2012 Olympics.
Aaron McIntosh was the coach for NZL Sailing Team's windsurfer JP Tobin in the lead up to the London Olympics. He also coached Dorian van Rijsselberg (NED) to his dominating gold medal performance in the RS:X windsurfer. Aaron and Dorian have been a hugely successful team claiming Gold at the 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships in Perth, before winning the Olympic Gold medal with a race to spare. As the new cycle for Rio starts, Dorian and Aaron have started the campaign with another podium, taking Silver at the 2013 RS:X World Championships in Brazil.
Jez Fanstone is Yachting New Zealand High Performance Director heading up one of New Zealand's most successful Olympic sailing teams. Jez was coach for Peter Burling and Blair Tuke - the New Zealand 49er pairing who won an Olympic silver medal. Pete and Blair took Silver medals at the 49er World Championships in 2011 and 2012, before capping off a very successful Olympic Campaign finishing with the Silver at London 2012. Jez continues to head New Zealand's Olympic programme, this year he shall be helping out the Finn squad, the same boat class he coached Ben Ainslie to Gold at China 2008.
