All crews to Jack Tar! We are breaking from tradition. The inimitable Jack Tar at Wynyard Quarter will be hosting the annual Beach Party that is the hallmark of the Auckland Regatta. It's another reason to take part in this fantastic event.
A recap of what's offered:
- The opportunity to race against the best boats in the Northern Region, in the best racing grounds anywhere
- The biggest keelboat and multihull event in Auckland
- The Jack Tar Auckland Regatta incorporates the Open and 8.5 Championships
- The most sailing fun that's possible in 2.25 days!
The Jack Tar Auckland Regatta kicks off at 4pm Friday 21 March with a rum race that's bigger than Ben Hur. It will incorporate a long harbour course, that takes about 2.5 hours to complete. Then we roll into Saturday with windward leewards followed by a long harbour course finishing late afternoon. Buses are booked to ferry crews from BBYC and the RNZYS into Jack Tars at Wynyard Quarter. There are more windward leewards on Sunday, topped off by a prize giving and party at the RNZYS. We're packing it in so that you get heaps of racing out of your weekend regatta.
Divisions have been set with some room for flexibility at the top end, to better cater for forty and fifty footers racing on PHRF. Have a chat about this with the race office if you are one of them.
Congrats to Millennium MRX (2000) - our first entrant for 2014.
See you on the race course and reply to this email if you have any questions.
