Peter Dawson
Peter Dawson has been a committee member at Murrays Bay Sailing Club for more than ten years, and during 2009-2012 he was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for bidding and hosting of the 2011 OptiWorlds in Napier. This regatta was a significant operational and financial success, bringing together volunteers and clubs from around New Zealand with sailors and sponsors from around the world. He also brings two decades of professional experience to the Board of Yachting New Zealand having owned and operated his own small business for more than 18 years.
Peter’s biggest sailing passions lie in grass roots development and youth sailing, although he also has an interest in advocating for the sailors and coaches at the high performance level. He still actively competes in the Zephyr class and is often seen ‘hanging around the club’ with his wife and three children.
Jamie McDowell
Jamie McDowell is a past Commodore and life member of the Worser Bay Boating Club, and was involved with corporate management and governance for many years before establishing his own import business in 1998. He has been involved in sailing at all levels in both dinghies and keelboats, and he was a founding trustee of the Port Nicholson Yachting Trust, helping to lay the foundation for what is an important pathway for young sailors in central New Zealand.
Jamie brings strong business management skills and international sailing experience to the board of Yachting New Zealand, meanwhile still enjoying sailing in a strong Wellington Zephyr Fleet.
