Infinity Racing are currently in Sweden, racing in the Lysekil Women’s Match, the final regatta of the Women’s International Match Racing Series. After a very impressive weigh in we had a day on the water to familiarise ourselves with the boats and our team.
Today’s racing started off at 18knots and a call was made to change to a smaller headsail by the race committee. We were off for the first two flights so by the time we hoped on board the boat we were ready to race. The breeze picked up during the day and the racing was incredibly close, forcing us to go into tight tacking dulls up wind on both legs for all three of our races. Although our trimmers were giving our helmsmen the evils by the time we got to the top mark, we felt our boat speed was good. We had a few scrambles at the bottom mark but managed to advance on our competitors.
We had a fantastic day out on the water and although we need to work on our starts and staying on board the boat, we are looking forward to another full on day of tacking dulls, gybes, laughs, evils and great sailing.
Tack! (Thank you)
