You may have made a submission to Auckland Council in April… now the Devonport Takapuna Local Board wants your views on how the land on the Northern end of Takapuna Beach (the Northern Reserve including the Campground) should be used.
The good news is we already have this fantastic plan for the COMMUNITY MARINE ACTIVITY HUB with PUBLIC RESERVE (www.marinehub.org.nz ) in place that’s ready to go and fully funded.
The plan recently received a majority endorsement by the public as part of the notified resource consent process. 50.8% of over 1000 submissions were in support of the Harbour Access Trust’s (HAT) Resource Consent application for this project, which involves greater public access to a prime part of the coastline, green open park-like spaces, and sailing and marine-related activities.
The Devonport-Takapuna Local Board is now conducting a non-binding poll, asking for feedback on four options for the Reserve. Some options actually don’t comply with the Takapuna Beach Reserve Management Plan that was put in place by council in 2013 after consultation with the public.
This COMMUNITY MARINE ACTIVITY HUB with PUBLIC RESERVE does comply and will result in a wonderful public area that includes very special open public spaces (over 90%) and a facility catering for marine activity.
If you share our vision for Takapuna Beach then make sure you take part in this poll endorsing the COMMUNITY MARINE ACTIVITY HUB as your first and second options.
