Do you love the Hauraki Gulf?
Your input can help protect the areas of the gulf you enjoy from development and farming and protect it for cruising. Sea Change is seeking input from users of the Hauraki Gulf in to a planning process looking at the use of the gulf in the long term. This work is being driven by a Stakeholder Working Group and YNZ has concerns that it is dominated by commercial and industry interests and that the views of recreational users are underrepresented.
For this reason it is important to have your say by completing the survey here by the 21st of April: http://www.seachange.org.nz/Have-your-say/Survey/
As a bonus, fill in the survey and you’ll go into the draw to win a Waiheke Island Explorer Tour family pass for two adults and two children with Fullers.
Sea Change is a partnership involving mana whenua, Auckland Council, Waikato Regional Council, the Department of Conservation, Ministry of Primary Industries and the Hauraki Gulf Forum.
The ultimate aim of Sea Change – Tai Timu Tai Pari is to produce a marine spatial plan that protects the health, productivity and sustainability of the Hauraki Gulf. It will give more clarity and certainty to people and groups who use the space – as well as the agencies who manage the gulf and its resources.
YNZ want to ensure that this plan fairly represents all users of the Hauraki Gulf. The survey is open until the 21st of April.
